It’s the USB and AUX input out of an E9X from the junkyard . It’s the one thing on my E92 that’s not functioning correctly, and I believe that this part might be the culprit. Now I just need to pull apart my center console to swap it out. Hopefully this will fix the issue and I can use my phone to play music in my car. Sadly, because it’s a 2009, I don’t have bluetooth audio, just bluetooth calling. I believe that bluetooth audio was added for the 2010 MY; the M3, being a 2011, has bluetooth audio.

Because I wanted the manual transmission I didn’t get factory bluetooth in my Mazda. And because I couldn’t pass up 20% off of MSRP I bought the 2012 instead of buying the 2013 which had USB connectivity as standard on all models. I did add a Bluetooth kit, but I prefer not to talk on the phone whilst driving and want to use all of the speakers (this system only uses the fronts) I rarely use it.
I did make my own dash-mounted controller to control a phone or iPod through the aux jack, but since my commute has gone from 40 miles a day down to just 4, I really don’t need to control any music these days.

Good luck... hope it works.

My commute went from 45 minutes to under 15 each way. I didn’t know about the lack of bluetooth audio and didn’t check the USB when I bought the car, I assumed it was like the M3. Bluetooth audio is on my list for my next car.

That is a cool coworker.

Stunningly bad not to support Bluetooth audio in 2009. Hope the new Aux cable fixes the problem.

You have awesome coworkers!
Bluetooth was high on the list of wants on my most recent car purchase. I had a 2012 Focus for a 2 years that didn’t after upgrading my previous Explorer’s radio and found I missed it a lot and that damn Focus had a non-din radio in it.
The VW does handle it in an annoying fashion - the radio will either always autoplay bluetooth or never autoplay bluetooth on startup . It doesn’t remember what you were last playing and go back to that.

It’s when they went from the CCC idrive to the CIC idrive. I’m not sure what was common for cars back in 2009.

I couldn’t tell you about BMW’s but I know my friend’s 2006 Audi A3 had it (my 2006 Volvo S60 does not, I moved over the Grom adapter from my S40). Still I got my first Bluetooth phone in 2006, 2007 was the year of the iPhone, and by 2009 BT capable phones were everywhere.

I’ve got bluetooth calling, just not audio.

Which frankl y makes it worse. Why go through all the trouble of installing a BT radio but not enable the audio profile?

Not sure, but I think it’s because they changed the architecture of the idrive. Also wonder why they didn’t just also support BT audio, because they did in later cars.

My Audi’s one a 2009 S8 and a 2012 S4 didn’t have Bluetooth audio. I believe the 2013 Audi A/S4s got it though. Not a very common thing back then.

Ok, that’s what I kind of thought. Didn’t remember it being that prolific and seemed like 2009 was at the precept of it being common.

My wife’s 2015 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum has BT phone and media, but not from the same device. Seriously, you can connect your phone as a phone, or as a media device, but noth BOTH. Drives me insane. You have to choose phone or media during the new pairing process.

Wow, that’s bad. I’d choose media I guess, I don’t get to many calls, and I prefer not to take them while driving anyway.

I thought all US-spec E90s had the system with at least seven speakers. Then again, I thought all of them also had at least bluetooth calling. A friend has a 2011 328i and it has the button for bluetooth calling, but it doesn’t actually have that fea ture.
